Newtown resident Ronald Lee Jr., 42, was arrested by police this week after they say he attempted to lure a 13 year old girl into his car in downtown Bethel.

According to police, Lee admitted to investigators that he saw the girl on Greenwood Avenue on Aug. 14, thought she was “attractive” and was “interested in dating her.” Lee also told police that he believed the girl was around 15 years old.

Police said Lee first approached the girl on Aug. 14 and asked for directions to a local coffee shop. He then double backed and asked the girl again for directions, this time to the local movie theater.

“Lee further admitted that he would have asked her to see a movie and that he would ha he attempted to kiss her if she was agreeable,” police said.

The girl, who was scared by the incident, ran home to tell her parents who called police. The girl saw the same traveling through downtown Bethel the next day and was able to get the license plate number for investigators.

Lee was arrested on Sept. 13 and charged with risk of injury to a minor and impairing the morals of a minor. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is expected to appear in court to be arraigned on the charges on Sept. 23.
